Utilities to reveal plans to secure supplies as pressure on water resources in Eastern England grow

Efforts to protect water supplies for future generations across Eastern England will come under the spotlight when the Consumer Council for Water (CCWater) meets in Peterborough on Tuesday next week.

The water watchdog’s meeting in public at the Bull Hotel will give residents the opportunity to discover how water companies, including Anglian Water, plan to keep taps running in homes across the region, despite growing pressure on water resources.

Consumers will also have the opportunity to put any issues or concerns about their water or sewerage services and bills to the independent watchdog’s board.

Alan Lovell, CCWater’s Chair, said:

“Safeguarding our water resources for future generations is one of the biggest challenges facing the water industry."

“We’re looking forward to hearing more about what water companies are doing to protect this precious resource and the vital role consumers will also have to play through using water wisely.”

The meeting will include presentations by Anglian Water and Essex and Suffolk Water. Anglian Water will also be asked to respond to concerns raised by consumers about the phased removal of its metered SoLow tariff.

The meeting starts at 10.45am and anyone who wishes to attend is asked to email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it in advance.
