Veolia: call for technology solutions to measure sulphide concentration levels in wastewater

Veolia are looking to engage with providers of innovative technologies that measure sulphide concentration levels in wastewater.

Interested companies are being invited to register on the Synoptica innovation match-making platform to provide Veolia with overview information about their technology.

Veolia - Water TreatmentSulphides in wastewater are responsible for a number of problems in networks and treatment plants, including odours, safety risk for operators, corrosion and asset damage.

Different types of treatment exist in order to reduce the production of sulphide – however, their implementation is compromised by the fact that it is currently difficult to continuously monitor the concentrations of sulphide in waste water.

Veolia is now looking for innovative, cost-effective and low-maintenance solutions able to provide on-line measurement of sulphides in wastewater.

Veolia regularly issues calls for external solutions worldwide with the goal of finding solutions to technological, organizational and usage issues in line with the Group's strategic areas.

The decision to issue a call for external solutions is made by:

  • the technical teams who have noted a technological barrier or a goal in terms of performance
  • the strategy teams, including research program managers and marketing managers, who establish the goal in relation to the market.
  • Candidates will be assessed on the following criteria:
  • What the technology does and a general description of how it operates
  • How the solution addresses the challenge
  • What differentiates the solution from others in the field and unique aspects of the technology
  • How the solution overcomes drawbacks of other existing technologies
  • Performance or technical data (current or anticipated)
  • The Technology Readiness Level (TRL): e.g. proof-of-concept, in-market, IP in place around the proposed technology

Suitable candidates will then be invited to pitch to Veolia, who manage over 7,000 water and wastewater plants worldwide, for an opportunity to work with them.

Following the pitch, both Veolia and the supplier may initiate negotiations or other arrangements. This could include a supply agreement, licensing, a research contract, or a joint development agreement.

Deadline for applications is 10th February and Veolia is planning to hold a pitch event on 7 April 2016. Click here to access the Synoptica web-based innovation platform which is hosting the call on behalf of Veolia. The platform matches buyers with suppliers of innovative products and services - by registering on the platform, innovators will also be able to access the entire buyer community.
