United Utilities puts water tech of the future on display

Technology which could reduce the cost of customer bills in future went on display yesterday at United Utilities.

The water company was hosting an innovation event to showcase the latest products or services available to the industry.

It includes mobile based tech which has the potential to significantly improve the way in which water companies respond to customer calls for help.

Some of the other equipment on show is designed to speed up the process of finding underground pipes, work out what, if anything, is wrong and then carry out quicker repairs. The idea is to reduce the impact on customers, improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Ultimately, some of the technology could lead to lower bills for customers.

United Utilities has invited other water companies to attend - Yorkshire and Northumbrian Water both sent representatives.
