Flooding and Flood Defence

The Environment Agency is using new high tech cameras to monitor flood risks in Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

The advance conference programme for Flood & Coast 2016, 23-25 February in Telford, is announced today as visitor registration opens.

A key national flood data source hosted by the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology has been estimated to deliver more than £5 million per annum net benefit to the UK flood risk assessments sector.

wessex water Milton-Hill2Extra flood protection for Milton Hill Residents in the Milton Hill area of Weston-super-Mare are now at a significantly reduced risk of flooding following the completion of a £2.1m flood alleviation project in September.

A major £95 million flood defence and regeneration scheme for Derby has been approved by Derby City Council's planning control committee.

Highways England is today starting work to upgrade and replace sections of the drainage systems on the M5 around junction 14 near Falfield in South Gloucestershire - the £3 million scheme is needed to reduce the risk of flooding in the area which could result in lane closures.
