The Environment Agency has launched a new consultation on its proposal for a river designation change for the River Darent.
The Agency is proposing to increase 2 lengths of watercourse which are tributaries of the River Darent at Westerham, Kent that is designated as a ‘main river’.
The proposed change will be made as a ‘determination’ under section 193C(1) of the Water Resources Act 1991 - a formal decision to change the main river map.
The change would mean that the Environment Agency would have the power to carry out work to manage flood risk on this part of the watercourse. The change would also affect how the watercourse is regulated.
Deadline to submit comments on the proposal is 10th November 2015 - click here to access the online consultation.
