Northumbrian Water is investing more than £1 million in reducing the flood risk in a County Durham town and is also exploring other future opportunities to reduce the flood risk in other parts of the town.

Irish Water has completed an upgrade to the storm tank at its Kinnegad Wastewater Treatment Plant which will ensure that the utility is fully compliant with EU Urban Wastewater Directives.

The Environment Agency will shortly start work on the construction phase of the £14 million Dawlish beach management scheme which gets underway this month.

NI Water awards £2.1m carbon contract

NI Water has awarded a carbon contract for the supply of supply, replacement and regeneration of granular activated carbon worth an estimated £2.1 million.

Sutton and East Surrey Water has awarded a concrete repair work contract worth an estimated £6 million – SES was also procuring on behalf of Portsmouth Water Ltd and Dee Valley Water plc.

Southern Water has gone out to tender with a contract for bridge scrapers and filter distributors worth an estimated £5.6 million.

Severe flood risk on East Coast passes

The severe flood risk caused by high tides and strong winds caused large waves along the East Coast of England has receded over the weekend.

Irish Water is currently preparing to lodge a planning application for the upgrading of the existing Water Treatment Plant at Glenties-Ardara to secure clean, safe drinking water for the people of the area.
