NI Water awards £2.1m carbon contract

NI Water has awarded a carbon contract for the supply of supply, replacement and regeneration of granular activated carbon worth an estimated £2.1 million.

The contract to maintain carbon in filters at optimum operational level covers the following key components:

  • Supply and delivery of virgin carbon
  • Removal from, regeneration and return of carbon to filters  
  • Disposal of waste carbon.

Wigan based company Chemviron Carbon Ltd has won the contract – the only firm in the bidding for the work.
