Yorkshire Water will start work next week on a £1million programme of work in a flood-prone area of Withernsea to reduce the risk of sewer flooding in the town.

Thames Water has reissued a contract notice for its upcoming private sewers work and lateral drain maintenance worth over £500 million pounds.

‘Blue corridor’ vision for Derby

Carillion – “positive start to 2011”

Carillion, one of the UK’s leading support services and construction companies, said it has made a positive start to 2011 following a strong performance in 2010 in its latest trading update issued this morning.

The latest Ofwat update on its sustainable sludge project puts the sewerage companies’ capability to raise significant additional income via its current ‘monopoly position’ with regards to both treatment infrastructure and sewage sludge availability squarely in its sights. The update says that waste sludge is turning into a valuable asset rather than a waste.

The European Commission has launched a new flagship initiative aimed at improving resource efficiency across the European Union.

The Environment Agency today unveiled plans for tailored flood warning services to be developed to better prepare utility providers, emergency services, insurers, retail and transport companies for flooding.
