South West Water was ordered to pay £32,967 in fines and costs in court last week for a series of illegal sewage discharges into Salcombe harbour.

Ofwat seeks to reassure investors

Water industry regulator Ofwat has sought to reassure the financial community in its latest briefing to City analysts and investors in the water sector about its proposals for regulatory reform for the upcoming Price Review and beyond.

 

The BT Pension Scheme has bought a 13 per cent stake in Kemble Water, the Thames Water holding company, from funds managed by Australian investment bank Macquarie.

United Utilities and Anglian Water have gone out to tender on contracts worth £90m and £22m respectively.

Severn Trent Group has announced that its turnover stood at £1.77bn for the year ended 31 March 2012, an increase of 3.5 per cent on the previous year, but suffered a significant fall in group profit before tax.

 

The Infrastructure Planning (Waste Water Transfer and Storage) Order amending Section 14 of the Planning Act 2008 has been presented to the Grand Committee of the House of Lords, with universal endorsement.

 

Pennon Group PLC, owners of South West Water, has announced an increase of 9.8 per cent in profit before tax for the water company in their financial results year ended 31 March 2012.
