The City of Edinburgh Council has gone out to tender with a contract worth up to £15 million for the second part of the Leith flood prevention scheme.
The tender is for the Water of Leith Phase 2 — Design and Build Contract. The Council is looking to enter into a restricted procurement procedure with suitably experienced design & build contractors, leading to a final contract award for the Water of Leith Flood Prevention Scheme Phase 2.
This second phase of the programme consists of the construction of flood defences over a distance of 1 km along the Water of Leith at Murrayfield in Edinburgh City Centre.
The winning contractor will be required to provide all works necessary to complete the flood prevention scheme in accordance with the requirement of the City of Edinburgh Council including structural walls and earth embankments, approximately 1 300 m and 600 m respectively with associated flood gates and provision of pump stations to assist with drainage on the dry side of the wall.
