Scottish Water tenders £24m ground investigation contract

Scottish Water has gone out to tender with a contract for ground investigation work worth an estimated £24 million.

Services successful bidders will be required to provide under the Ground Investigation Contract include:

  • On site services including percussion boring, rotary drilling, trial pitting, probing, in situ testing, geophysical testing, sampling, instrumentation and monitoring, to obtain information on ground conditions.
  • Laboratory geotechnical and geo-environmental testing and reporting including for water supply pipe and waste acceptance criteria.
  • Desk Study, factual and Ground Investigation Reports.
  • Limited consultancy services in liaison with Scottish Water or its consultants and partners.

Contractors will not be required to provide consultancy services to ensure adequacy of the design of the project for which the works and services are carried out. They will be expected to provide all the necessary plant and resources to carry out physical works to investigate the ground conditions and obtain required samples, including any external and sub-contract services required.  

They must also be able to provide appropriate storage and management of samples obtained for a minimum of twelve months after completion of testing, analysis and reporting, together with in-situ and laboratory testing capability and site monitoring services

The initial contract, which will start on 1st April 2015  is 6 years, plus six 1 year extension options. Deadline for tender submissions is 29th September.
