Mott Macdonald have won a £770K contract with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council to provide civil engineering consultancy services on a range of coastal flood defence and erosion protection projects.
The engineering consultancy will be carrying out a range of functions involved in delivering the flood defence and erosion protection projects identified in Southend-on-Sea Borough Council’s Shoreline Strategy.
The Strategy is to direct the implementation of the policies of the Thames Estuary 2100 Plan (TE2100) and the Essex and South Suffolk Shoreline Management Plan within the Borough. The TE2100 Plan sets out the strategic direction for managing flood risk in the Thames estuary to the end of the century and beyond The Plan recommends what actions the Environment Agency and others will need to take – in the short term (next 25 years), medium term (the following 15 years) and long term (to the end of the century).
Mott Macdonald will be working on feasibility and option appraisals, Project Appraisal Report production, environmental appraisal, consultation, identification of funding options, presentations, site investigation, detail design, and site supervision and contract administration.
Atotal of six firms were in the bidding for the tender.
