The four year contract covers a massive programme of work for the continuing supply of flood defences in England and Wales. The Agency said that in view of the initial investment that may be required by suppliers in relation to the framework, the critical nature of the significant length of time required to deliver and maintain some of the flood defence works commissioned, the need to package and programme works over a longer period of time in order to achieve a more cost effective solution, the contract would also include a two year extension option.
The work is divided into four lots, three of which are for consultants. Lot 4, the Asset Delivery Lot, which will deliver civil engineering construction works and is worth £750m over the four-year term, receives the largest proportion of expenditure.
The three consultancy lots are valued as follows:
- Engineering consultancy - £180m
- Mapping, modelling and data services - £48m
- Environmental services - £30m
Suppliers will be able to apply for more than one Lot. The Environment Agency said it is open to receiving Expressions of Interest from Consortia, Joint Ventures, Strategic Alliances and other such arrangements.
