Southern Water has issued a Request for Information (RFI) on Smart Systems seeking input from technology suppliers.

Launching the RFI, the water company says Smart Systems is a major transformation programme and strategic priority spanning the whole water cycle. Southern Water recently completed Discovery (Phase 1) defining the initial modules it wanted, a gap analysis, and decision on whether to run Smart Systems as a long-term strategic programme.
Southern Water is now moving into Planning (Phase 2a) better defining the modules, it is seeking functionality and phasing, as well as benefits, dependencies and the required architecture to enable the modules. The exercise will culminate in a programme business case and decision on the first modules it wants to procure and implement (Phase 2b).
The objectives of the RFI are as follows:
To understand the available Smart Systems capabilities that exist and their alignment to Southern Water’s defined 10 modules
To capture case studies and potential benefits to support the business case and module prioritisation
Following the initial RFI we will look to tender the need under the Procurement Act 2023 - outlined dates are estimates and will be confirmed when the tender is issued to market - following internal strategy approval.
Current estimated start and end contract dates are 1 April 2027 to 1 April 2032.
Any interested parties can register interest via Southern Water Sourcing Portal (Jaggaer) and respond to questions in the RFI. Click here to access the portal and to view current opportunities.
