StormHarvester, a specialist in real-time wastewater network monitoring, has been awarded a long-term service contract by Northumbrian Water Group following a competitive tender process.

Under the agreement, StormHarvester will provide sewer network monitoring across Northumbrian Water Group’s 30,180 km wastewater network. The contract includes pump station alerting, inflow and infiltration detection, and spill prediction, enabling earlier intervention and more effective control of network performance.
Northumbrian Water Group will use the StormHarvester platform to strengthen real-time visibility across its network. The increased insight allows issues to be identified and addressed before they escalate, supporting a shift away from reactive fixes towards more proactive, targeted interventions.
The tender process assessed suppliers on experience, technical capability and cost efficiency. StormHarvester was selected based on its proven delivery at scale and its ability to support long-term operational and environmental objectives.
Tony Baines, Wastewater Treatment Manager at Northumbrian Water Group, said:
“This contract allows us to build on our established relationships with the team at StormHarvester and embed the proactive alerts into business as usual procedures. Innovation is one of our core values and the team are looking forward to how we can collaborate and continuously improve our wastewater service.
StormHarvester’s wastewater monitoring platform currently receives data from more than 5,000 sensors across over 2,900 sites within Northumbrian Water Group’s network. The real-time intelligence supports more targeted interventions, helps prevent pollution incidents, improves asset performance and reduces operational costs.
Brian Moloney, CEO and Founder of StormHarvester, added:
“This contract reflects the trust Northumbrian Water Group places in our platform and our team. We’ve been working together since 2019, and this agreement recognises the results delivered on the ground and the role data now plays in running wastewater networks more proactively and at scale.”
StormHarvester specialises in wastewater network intelligence, helping utilities prevent pollution before it happens. Its advanced anomaly detection capability analyses data from thousands of sensors, turning it into precise, actionable insight that enables more effective operational decision-making.
