The Environment Agency has awarded a contract for Riverfly Monitoring Initiative citizen science project 26/29with an estimated value of £206,200( including VAT) to the Freshwater Biological Association.

The Collaborative Agreement between the Environment Agency and the Freshwater Biological Association (FBA) aims to continue the work of the Riverfly Monitoring Initiative (RMI) citizen science network under the Riverfly Partnership. The project collects invertebrate data and evidence of environmental impacts from rivers and catchments across England, complementing the Environment Agency’s own monitoring and assessment work.
Earliest date the contract will be signed is 9 April 2026 – current estimated start and end contract dates are 9 April 2026 to 31 March 2029.
