United Utilities has awarded an AMP8 contract for the detailed design phase of GIS platform upgrade with an estimated value of £3.85 million (inc VAT) to ESRI (UK) Ltd.

United Utilities has made the single supplier award without competition for technical reasons and on the basis that there are no reasonable alternatives.
The utility currently operates a Geographic Information System (GIS) based on ESRI software which is a mission critical system. United Utilities intends to undertake an upgrade of its ESRI GIS platform. ESRI retains exclusive intellectual property rights over ArcGIS Software.
Due to the scale, complexity and business criticality of the environment, ESRI’s specialist vendor level design and planning services are required in advance of implementation.
Scope of the contract is limited to the design and planning services to support the upgrade of the existing ESRI system.
Earliest date the contract will be signed is 20 March 2026 – estimated start and end contract dates are 6 April 2026 to 1 June 2027.
