Northern Ireland Water has launched a market engagement exercise to ascertain initial interest and capability for the potential procurement of replacement and maintenance of an electronic access system for a number of its sites.

The replacement electronic access system will be required to be rolled out across a number of NI Water's sites. Any successful supplier should be able to provide services over the full geographical coverage of # Northern Ireland. This will include the ongoing maintenance, repair, like for like replacement and supply of spare parts over the period of the contract.
The water company is now inviting suppliers to submit Requests For Information (RFI) - at present NI Water are seeking to ascertain initial interest and capability within the market. NI Water said it may issue invitations to meetings to discuss responses further – it is anticipated that these may take place on 5th and 6th November 2025; further information will be provided nearer the time.
The water company said it may also seek to carry out further market engagement including potential supplier meetings, product trials and a tender competition.
Current estimated start and end possible contract dates are 1 January 2029 to 1 January 2032 with a further possible extension option to 1 January 2034. Current expectation is that any formal tender notice would be issued in October 2028.
