Ofwat to set out plans to launch major £75 million Water Efficiency Campaign

Ofwat will shortly set out plans to launch the Water Efficiency Campaign, a bold national behaviour change campaign to improve water efficiency across England and Wales, backed by a confirmed budget of up to £75 million over five years.

Ahead of going out to tender, the water sector’s economic regulator is holding an in-person launch event in central London on 10 July 2025 (10:00-13:00) for suppliers hear about Ofwat’s vision for the campaign, meet Ofwat's marketing team, explore opportunities to get involved, and connect with others across the industry and water/ utilities sector.

Announcing the launch in a planned procurement notice, Ofwat said:

“This is more than a campaign, it's a once-in-a-generation opportunity to drive real, lasting change. Backed by unprecedented collaboration and investment, the momentum is strong. Ofwat and the water sector's ambition are sky-high.”

Ofwat's Head of Marketing Campaigns will be explaining technicalities, including the procurement route, contracting arrangements and answering questions from attendees before the Invitation to Tender (ITT) goes live.

Current estimated start and end contract dates are 31 October 2025 to 31 March 2030. Ofwat expects to publish a formal tender notice on 10 July.
