Southern Water has appointed the partners who will be working on its £466 million AMP8 wastewater network services investment programme.

The successful contractors will assist the water company in the maintenance and management of its clean and wastewater networks, including:
- Reactive operate, repair and maintenance services (including reinstatements)
- Planned preventative and inspection services
- Planned new services/connections for water supply & distribution network
The water company went out to tender in June 2023 to put a collaborative framework in place for four Lots - Operate & Maintenance, Lining, Civils & Rehab and Manhole Maintenance.
The service providers will support the utilisation of Southern Water’s industry leading digitized smart network – the company has over 23,000 sensors installed in its sewer network, plus nearly 1,000 Duration Monitors which are helping it to move to proactively generated work, not reactive work initiated by customers.
Details of each Lot, which cover the utility’s operational boundaries, primarily for the counties of Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and Isle of Wight, are as follows:
Lot 1 Operate and Maintain (est total value £272 million)
Comprises work associated with the first response to, and the investigation of sewerage related customer contacts, the operation and maintenance of sewer collection networks, sewer CCTV, cleansing Services, maintenance of sewer level monitors and installation of patch sewer liners. Lanes Group Plc have been awarded a place on the framework – one of two companies in the bidding for the contract.
Lot 2 Civils & Rehab (est total value £120 million)
Covers the provision of new and the rehabilitation of existing sewer collection networks. Cappagh Browne Utilities Litd have been awarded a place on the framework – one of three companies in the bidding for the contract.
Lot 3 Manhole Covers (est total value £26 million)
Comprises the repair and replacement of manholes on the sewer collection networks. Lanes Group Plc have been awarded a place on the framework – one of three companies in the bidding for the contract.
Lot 4 Lining (est total value £48 million)
Covers the rehabilitation of sewer networks using a variety of sewer lining techniques. McAllister Bros. Ltd have been awarded a place on the framework – one of six companies in the bidding for the contract.
Initial contract term is five years with three further one year extension options.
