WSP Binnies Joint Venture appointed to Environment Agency Ecological Services Framework

WSP, a leading multidisciplinary professional services consultancy, and Binnies, a whole lifecycle water and environmental services provider, have been appointed to the Environment Agency's (EA) Ecological Services Framework (EcoSF4).

WSP NATURE GENERIC

The appointment reinforces the joint venture’s commitment to delivering sustainable, innovative ecological solutions across the UK’s freshwater and coastal ecosystems.

The EcoSF4 framework aims to enhance the Environment Agency’s ecological capabilities by providing vital support in managing the nation’s water ecosystems.

As part of the framework, WSP Binnies JV will offer services including specialist macroinvertebrate survey and sample analysis, fish passage assessment and design, and river restoration and catchment assessment and design. The collaboration will leverage the expertise of both partners to help the EA restore and protect critical aquatic habitats, promoting long-term environmental sustainability.

Emma Hatchett, WSP Binnies JV Framework Director, said:

“Our nation’s rivers and wetlands are vital ecosystems, and we’re committed to restoring them to their natural state. Through this partnership, WSP Binnies JV will help the Environment Agency achieve its environmental targets, fostering long-term sustainability across critical water habitats.”

Matt Clegg, Environment Director at Binnies UK, added:

“We are delighted to offer a comprehensive portfolio of ecological survey and design expertise through this partnership to support the EA in delivering meaningful and lasting enhancements to the nation's aquatic ecosystem.”

The work carried out under the EcoSF4 will be essential in helping many of the nation’s water bodies reach a good ecological status by restoring natural flow regimes, increasing habitat diversity, improving water quality, and restoring natural functioning. Our work will help the Environment Agency deliver more outcomes for nature as well as improving engagement with riparian communities and enhance their resilience to climate change.
