Thames Water has awarded a major AMP8 contract for mechanical repair products and services – the contract had an estimated value of £53.6 million when it was tendered in April 2024.

The water company was looking to put a framework in place to cover the provision of mechanical couplings, adaptors, repair fittings (repair clamps), bespoke steel pipework (steel specials) and a range of installed repair services for potable water pipelines. It also included the following:
- under pressure drilling (hot tapping)
- line stopping services
- under pressure valve insertions
- installation of bespoke and standard sized encapsulating collars
The contract was tendered in the following four Lots:
- Lot 1 Mechanical Fittings - £11.2 million
- Lot 2 Repair Fittings - £5.6 million
- Lot 3 Under Pressure Drilling, In Line Valve Insertions, Line Stops, Encapsulation Collars - £24.8 million
- Lot 4 Steel Specials - £2.4 million
The following companies have been awarded contracts on the framework:
- Crane Limited - Lots 1 and 2
- R2M Ltd - Lots 1, 3 and 4
- Utilities Support Engineering Limited - Lot 3
- UTS Engineering Limited - Lots 3and 4
Agreements have also been awarded to Wolseley UK Ltd and Stark Building Materials UK Limited (Trading as Frazer) - specifically for the distribution of Viking Johnson products from Crane Limited.
