Audit Scotland has awarded a contract for the external auditing of Scottish Water worth an estimated £2.1 million.

The contract is among a number of contracts tendered in 5 separate Lots for the audit years 2022/23 to 2026/27 by Audit Scotland for the external audit of public bodies worth an estimated £38,901,542 million in total.
The tender exercise was designed to allow the Auditor General and the Accounts Commission to make appointments to firms for approximately 36 per cent by value of the overall annual audit work
comprise 30-36% by value of their overall annual audit work.
Lot 3 of the framework covered the regulated water industry – specifically, the audit of Scottish Water. The contract, which was awarded to auditors KPMG, has a total value of £2,100,000.
KPMG was awarded a number of other contracts on other Lots on £38.9 million framework agreement – initial contract term is five years with an option to extend up to two further years.
