Anglian Water tenders £60 million AMP7 contract for Renewable Energy Assets Framework

Anglian Water has gone out to tender with an AMP7 contract for a Renewable Energy Assets Framework (REAF) worth an estimated £60 million.

The water company is establishing the framework as a means to procure renewable energy directly from renewable energy generators in close proximity to its operational sites.

Anglian said the renewable energy generators e.g. solar or wind, will either be existing assets, or those that are proposed nearby its operational sites.

The utility currently has a number of operational sites across its region which are largely powered by energy from network providers (approx. 700GWh per year).

The framework offers an opportunity for suppliers to lay a direct power connection from private energy providers' renewable energy assets to Anglian Water sites in close proximity.

“The scope of this sourcing activity is to realise opportunities at a local level, rather than securing a renewable energy supply for the entire region,” the water company said.

It is expected that the interconnections installation process would be managed by Anglian's existing capital delivery alliances, or Anglian's own supply chain to ensure any works are delivered safely.

As well as increasing Anglian’s operational efficiency, the framework will support the utility’s carbon reduction ambitions. Renewable energy consumption of is a key component of its route map to Net Zero carbon by 2030.

Estimated total value of the contract is £60 million.

Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 7 February 2022 - click here to access the tender documentation.
