Southern Water has gone out to tender with an AMP7 contract planning and consenting services, including Development Consent Order (DCO ) and Town and Country Planning, worth an estimated £4 million.

The contract will support Southern Water in the development of its strategic water resource options for the Hampshire area, including a new option to meet a large proportion of the shortfall in water supply. The water company’s current preferred strategy includes provision of a desalination plant located near Southampton.
Scope of the contract includes:
- Leading the strategy for the timely and effective delivery of the Development Consent Order application, Examination and Consent.
- Providing expert planning interface, support and advice to the programme to achieve consent.
Initial contract term is 3 years with three further possible annual extension options.
