Anglian Water has gone out to tender with a contract for the provision of roaming SIMs cards across the Internet of Things, inclusive of the telemetry network, worth an estimated £4 million in total.
The successful supplier will be required to provide 4G backwards compatible (i.e. 4G, 3G, 2G, CSD and SMS) roaming SIM cards that roam across all UK networks without home preference that are SIM to server enabled.
All SIM cards must be able to send and receive SMS messages to and from UK devices, and be offered with aggregated data tariffs in 1MB, 100MB, 500MB, 1GB, 10GB, 20GB, 30GB and 50GB offerings.
Scope of the contract also includes provision of a private APN, exclusive to Anglian Water, to aggregate all 4G, 3G and 2G SIM cards to communicate with the water company’s datacentres.
Anglian, which currently has an existing SIM card estate of 11,500 SIMS, is looking to appoint a maximum of two suppliers to the contract, which will run for up to eight years.
