Dwr Cymru Welsh Water tenders Chemical Investigation Programme contract

Dwr Cymru Welsh water has gone out to tender with a contract for the third tranche of investigations for the Chemical Investigation Programme in England and Wales.

The investigations are required by the Department for Food Environment And Rural Affairs, the DEFRA, Welsh Government, the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales to assess the presence of specific chemical pollutants and emerging chemical risks to the environment.

The contract includes all project support, sample collection, analysis, UKWIR project contributions and reporting.

Successful suppliers will be required to provide the sample bottles containing correct fixants where applicable and determinant analysis of circa 2000 influent, effluent, river and sewer samples, over the contracted time period.

The purpose of the data is to feed into the national Chemical Investigation Programme to better understand the presence and significance of specific chemical pollutants and emerging chemical risks to the environment such as pharmaceuticals, micro plastics and antimicrobial resistance.

The obligation is set out in the Wales National Environment Programme (NEP) and English Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) and constitutes a statutory obligation for Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water . Failure to deliver the required samples, analysis and results would have severe consequences.

Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 19th April 2019 – click here to access the tender documentation.
