Welsh Water tenders £5m-plus civil engineering support services contract

Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has gone out to tender with a contract for civil engineering support services at its reservoirs worth an estimated £5.33 million

The water company is looking to appoint qualified civil engineers who are experienced reservoir engineers appointed under the Reservoirs Act 1975 to the following panels:

  • all reservoirs panel
  • no-impounding reservoirs panel
  • service reservoirs panel,
  • supervising engineers panel

Inspection, design and supervision duties covered under the contract include:

  • Inspections and supervisory visits
  • Undertaking flood, structural and stability studies, dam breach modelling and consequence assessments
  • Assessing the condition of structures at DCC reservoirs (including dams, towers, tunnels, spillways, accesses, walkways and pipes/valves inside the dam)
  • Provide cost estimates and programmes for schemes
  • Environmental studies and impact assessments as required to undertake schemes at reservoir sites
  • Assisting with tender evaluations for construction schemes at reservoir sites.
  • Site support and site supervision as required during construction stages for schemes at reservoir sites.
  • Provide ad hoc technical, specialist and expert advice on any reservoir safety matters.

Welsh Water will appoint up to seven participants to the framework agreement, which will initially run for three years starting from 1st April 2019, with an option to extend for a further 4 years at 3+1 year intervals.
