The Environment Agency has gone out to tender with contract for the supply of security guard services for the Thames Barrier and associated flood defence sites worth an estimated £5 million.
The contract covers the provision of manned uniformed security guarding services at the Thames Barrier and mobile patrolling of five associated remote flood defence sites in the Greater London area on a 24 hour 365 day a year basis. The other sites are the Barking and Dartford Creek Barriers and KGV Dock and Gallions Flood Gates. Duties will include controlling site access egress, manning security control room and gate houses, monitoring CCTV, together with monitoring and responding intruder and fire alarm systems.
Initial contract term is for 2 years with 3 further annual extension options
All suppliers who tender for the contract must be members of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS). All individual staff provided must also hold a relevant SIA licence and must have UK Government Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) clearance.
