Northumbrian Water has gone out to tender with a contract for water network services for Essex worth up to an an estimated £90 million.
The work will be required for the Essex region of the Essex and Suffolk Water operating area. In the Essex operational area, drinking water is supplied to approx.1 500 000 customers. Its supply area is part rural and part urban and covers mid-Essex, east Essex and the congested Greater London Boroughs of Havering, Barking and Dagenham and Redbridge
The majority of its customers and the bulk of commercial water demand are centered in the urban conurbations of Chelmsford, Southend, Brentwood, Basildon and the London Boroughs.
Northumbrian Water is looking to appoint up to seven suppliers to the framework agreement, which will run for up to six years.
Initial framework is 3 years with options to extend for a further 3 years dependent upon business needs, markets and performance and will be subject to regular reviews.
The utility is looking for expressions of interest to join the framework for Water Network Works and Services in the Essex Region of the Essex and Suffolk Water Operating Area.
The tender is split in four Lots:
- Lot 1 - excavation, pipework, backfill and first time permanent reinstatement of excavations for Essex and Suffolk Water's repair and maintenance work stream (up to £30m)
- Lot 2 - backfill and first time permanent reinstatement of excavations for Essex and Suffolk Water's repair and maintenance work stream and network improvement work stream (up to £27m)
- Lot 3- excavation, pipework, backfill and first time permanent reinstatement of excavations for Essex and Suffolk Water's network improvement work stream (up to £24m)
- Lot 4 - provision of reinstatement material and mobile plant hire including Grab Wagons (up to £12m)
The duration of the framework is 3 years with options to extend for a further 3 years dependent upon business needs, markets and performance and will be subject to regular reviews.
