Veolia wins €156m Sri Lanka water contract

Veolia has been appointed as project manager on a  €156 million  euro contract to construct five new water treatment plants, 12 service reservoirs, five pumping stations and over 430km of transmission and distribution pipes from the Sri Lankan National Water Supply and Drainage Board.

Veolia will carry out the work via its subsidiaries OTV and SADE in the Greater Matale area, a predominantly agricultural region.The system will ensure drinking water quality and security of supply for more than 350,000 people.

Clarification, settling and filtration at the water treatment plants will incorporate a range of Veolia solutions and technology to suit local conditions.

SADE will act as subcontractor to design and build the 433km transmission and distribution network.

In 2015, the group supplied 100 million people with drinking water and 63 million people with wastewater service,produced 63 million megawatt hours of energy and converted 42.9 million metric tons of waste into new materials and energy.

Veolia Environnement (listed on Paris Euronext: VIE) recorded consolidated revenue of €25 billion in 2015.
