Southern Water is pre-engaging with the supplier market in order to determine the likely supply chain and capacity for the AMP 6 phase iof ts Thanet sewers rehabilitation scheme.
Suppliers are being invited to complete a questionnaire on a range of activities, including whether they would complete the works using direct, agency or subcontract labour and how they would rate subcontractor availability of labour for each of the specified activities between November 2017 and September 2019.
The water company is also inviting comments which suppliers feel would be relevant to the Southern Water's scheme and their proposed approach to delivering the scheme, including Joint Ventures.
The Thanet Sewers scheme is a groundwater protection programme of works to rehabilitate existing sewers over AMPs 5, 6 and 7 in the Thanet district of North East Kent, in and around the towns of Ramsgate and Broadstairs.
The 160 km sewer system is unusual in that there are an estimated 17 km of sewers laid within purpose dug, underground unsupported tunnels within the chalk strata. Southern Water estimates that approximately 35 km to 55 km of the network will require rehabilitation works and flood storage/attenuation works.
Deadline to submit completed questionnaires to Southern Water is 3rd March 2017 – click here to access the periodic indicative notice.
