Thames Water has gone out to tender with a contract for fuel supplies and services worth an estimated £41 million.
The water company currently use approximately 10.7 million litres of fuel per year on-site, mostly red diesel. However, Thames also requires deliveries of advanced red diesel, ultra-low sulphur red diesel and kerosene. The procurement is split into three Lots:
Fuel deliveries — consisting of bulk deliveries (20 000 litres and over per delivery) and non-bulk deliveries (under 20 000 litres per delivery)
Fuel management programme — including creating a fuel management plan for each installation, the analysis of stored fuel, reporting on the condition, risk, benefit and overall performance of the fuel, storage, handling and use, and providing remedial/improvement work where required, reducing fuel related equipment failures, increasing fuel related equipment efficiency, identifying any potential fuel legislation compliance issues and recommend solutions.
Combined fuel delivery and management programme — a combination of the lots for fuel delivery and fuel management.
Estimated total value of the contract is £41 million. Any agreement awarded will be for an initial duration of 3 years, with options to extend in 2 year increments up to a maximum overall term of 7 years.
