Northumbrian Water has gone out to tender with a contract for structural steelworks worth up to £14 million.
Work under the contract, which covers structural steel fabrication services, could be carried out for any operating entity of Northumbrian Water. However the main area of work will be the water company’s operating area in the North East of England.
Nortumbrian Water is looking to appoint a maximum number of four suppliers to the framework agreement, which is intended to provide access to steel fabrication contractors for an initial period of 4 years (with the option to extend for a further period of 4 years).
Estimated total value of purchases for the entire duration of the framework agreement is put at between £10 million to £14 million.
NWL are setting up the framework in response to a recent change in legislation now requires all structural steel supplied to comply with BS EN 1090 CE certification.
Work under the contract will range from small maintenance/health and safety issues to larger capital schemes.
NWL also intends to mandate that the contractors appointed to the framework will be utilised by its Tier 1 Capital Partners in order to ensure NWL are receiving a consistent approach to steel fabrication services on NWL projects. The Tier 1 Capital Partners will procure the works directly from the structural steel providers.
Scheduled start date for the contract is 1st October 2016 with completion set for 30th September 2020.
Time limit for receipt of requests for documents or for accessing documents is 8th June – click here to access the tender documentation.
