Scottish Water awards £90m rural framework contract

Scottish Water has awarded a £90 million contract for its Rural Framework programme – which could be worth £150 million if the water company extends it into the next regulatory period.

The utility has appointed a total of 61 contractors across the Highlands, Islands and Borders to support the delivery of its water infrastructure, waste water infrastructure and non infrastructure capital programmes for the SR15 regulatory period  2015-2021.

The contract was tendered in 6 Lots and contracts awarded according to geographical areas.

Estimated value for the programmes is in the region of £15 million  to £25 million per annum with a total estimated spend for the first regulatory period of around £90 million  to £150 million. The programme includes non-infrastructure and infrastructure work, along with distribution operation and maintenance strategies, scientific services and treatment operation and maintenance strategies.

Subject to satisfactory performance, Scottish Water has the ability to extend all or part of the framework into the next regulatory period.
