Thames Water has gone out to tender with an AMP6 contract for pollution investigation services to cover pollution Incidents throughout its region.
The contract covers the provision of a response assessment service to pollution incidents resulting from Thames Water operations.
The successful bidder will be required to provide an urgent field response to suspected and confirmed pollution incidents to record environmental and water quality data and evidence.
The bidder will also be required to support this with environmental monitoring capability to undertake a programme of background and recovery monitoring, with a focus on water quality assessment.
Thames Water is looking for suitably resourced and trained teams to deliver best practice assessment of key environmental determinands, advise on mitigation and remediation. The successful bidder will also need to have “an appreciation of the regulatory impact of pollution incidents on water and sewage companies.”
On Monday this week Thames Water was fined £380,000 for polluting a rural stream at its Princes Risborough sewage treatment works attributed to “lamentable” management failures. The court placed on record the company’s commitment to improving its environmental performance – but warned Thames Water that it could face significantly higher fines in future if it did not stay true to its word.
Any agreement awarded for the new contract will be for an initial duration of 3 years, with options to extend annually up to a maximum overall term of 7 years.
Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is noon on 21st March – click here to access the tender documentation.
