NI Water awards leakage equipment contract

Northern Ireland Water has awarded a contract for the supply, delivery, hire and maintenance of leakage equipment and ancillary equipment.

The contract, which was divided into 14 Lots, covers the supply of tracing and detection equipment to establish if there are leaks and if so, where they are located in the water distribution systems. It also covers locating metal and plastic pipes underground to identify the location of hazards such as underground cable.

Equipment to be supplied under the contract includes correlators, listening sticks, ground microphones, flow transmitter receivers and loggers and tracer gas detection equipment. The contract also covers equipment hire, together with maintenance, calibration and supply of spare parts for metal detection  and cable / pipe tracing.

London-based Vivax-Metrotech Ltd and Hampshire firm Primayer Ltd have won contracts for the 14 Lots. The contract will run for an initial 2 year period with an option to extend for a further 1 year period.
