Natural Resources Wales is due to issue a prequalification notice in the next few months inviting companies to apply for a four year £100 million civil engineering framework agreement.
The body responsible for rivers and coastal protection in Wales is seeking to deliver coastal and river defence schemes via the framework, together with work on other assets.
NRW is also procuring the contract on behalf of a number of Local Authorities - scheduled date for start of award procedures is 17th May 2016.
The NRW Civil Engineering Framework Agreement (CEFA) covers the following four Lots:
Lot 1 — Complex civil engineering: Est value up to £40m - work of a technically complex, high value or high risk nature including construction, modification or maintenance of flood risk assets, gauging weirs, hydrometery stations, fish passes and other assets. Likely to require understanding and management of all or some of the following aspects: significant temporary works considerations; complicated ground conditions; significant water management. Two zones (North and South Wales).
Lot 2 — Standard civil engineering : Est value up to £25m- work of a straightforward nature, lower value or risk including the construction, modification or maintenance of flood risk assets, gauging weirs, hydrometery stations, fish passes and other assets. Four zones (North East, North West, South East and South West Wales).
Lot 3 — Primary infrastructure and associated services :Est value up to £10m - construction of primary estate infrastructure including roads, bridges, associated earthworks and drainage, other similar structures and quarrying activities (excluding drilling and blasting). (all Wales).
4. Lot 4 — Secondary infrastructure and associated services: Est value up to £25m - construction, maintenance, repair and reinstatement of all aspects of estates secondary infrastructure, including roads; bridges and footbridges; tracks; paths and recreational facilities; drainage; and quarrying activities (excluding drilling and blasting). Four zones (North, Mid, South East and South West Wales).
