Northumbrian Water has gone out to tender with a £40 million AMP6 contract for its Horsley Water Treatment Works Phase II Upgrade.
Northumbrian Water Limited is seeking to appoint a design and construct contractor to carry out the upgrade of Horsley Water Treatment Works. The upgrade is needed to increase the treatment capacity of Horsley WTW in order to ensure that the output meets the following NWL Strategic Network requirements:
- Flows up to 106 Ml/d, taking into account individual process units being out of service for maintenance or refurbishment in line with outage management processes;
- Flows between 106-150 Ml/d, with all process units in operation.
A new process stream will also be required, replacing the existing stream which is now beyond its asset life and which is to be demolished on commissioning of the new stream.
A high level Notional Solution has been developed to illustrate how the project objective and performance (water quality) requirements may be achieved and briefly comprises:
- New Surge suppression system for the raw water rising main;
- Provision of a new high rate sand ballasted clarification process;
- Provision of a new rapid gravity filtration process;
- Provision of a manganese removal process;
- Provision of ultra violet disinfection;
- High voltage asset refurbishment;
- Provision of a treated water service reservoir bypass;
- Increasing the capacity of the ancillary process systems, such as sludge handling, wash-water and chemicals;
- New potable water pumping station;
Scope of the work includes all design, civils, M&E, process,control and instrumentation.
Deadline for request to participate is 30th January 2015. The scheme has a starting date of 15th April 2016 with completion scheduled for the end of April 2018.
Time limit for receipt of requests for documents or for accessing documents 30th January and the time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate via a pre-qualification questionnaire is 6th February 2015.
