Balfour Beatty has posted a total loss of £150 million as the result of historic UK problem contracts, according to its latest results for the half year ended 26th June published this morning.

The Environment Agency and Slough Borough Council are working in partnership to investigate whether potential options to reduce the risk of river and surface water flooding within the catchments of the Chalvey Ditch, Salt Hill Stream and Datchet Common Brook are technically and economically viable.

The Environment Agency is accelerating the proposed  Starcross and Cockwood tidal defence scheme on the Exe Estuary in Devon as part of the March 2015 Budget announcement regarding the 6-year flood defence programme.

Southern Water has gone out to tender with an AMP6 contract for sewer survey and sewage treatment consultancy services worth up to £20.4 million.

Thames Water has gone out to tender with a contract for the supply of natural gas during AMP6 and potentially AMP7 worth between £18 million to £25 million.

United Utilities has awarded an AMP6 contract for the supply of new and replacement centrifugal and positive displacement pumps worth an estimated £54 million.

The UK’s Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and India’s Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) are jointly inviting proposals for collaborative research networking projects on sustaining water resources for food, energy and ecosystem services.

United Utilities is continuing to advise customers in Lancashire to boil their water until further notice – five days on since the company found traces of a parasite at its Franklaw water treatment works.

Administrators appointed at Royal Imtech

Royal Imtech N.V. has announced that it has today filed a request to be granted a suspension of payments with the District Court Rotterdam. The court has granted the request and has appointed administrators.
