Aquatech China attracts record number of visitors

In its second year Aquatech China has reconfirmed the show as the largest water technology show in China.  502 exhibitors and 17,533 visitors from 72 countries were brought together in the Shanghai Exhibition Centre, which was the centre of the water world in South East Asia from June 3 to 5, 2009.

Paul Reiter of the International Water Association, who opened the event, said

“The Chinese water sector is still growing together with the development of the Chinese economy. The investment plan that the government announced at the end of last year has shown result and water technology products and services are highly in demand.”

China - a promising new water market

Aquatech China was well-visited and demonstrated the promise of the Chinese water market for the future. Paddy Young of organiser Amsterdam RAI commented:

“The country’s entry to the WTO and the World Expo of 2010 are accelerating the growth of the water industry in China. As cities grow exponentially and commercial and industrial output increases, huge pressure is being placed on China’s water infrastructure. The result is a genuine sense of urgency to take action before China’s export trade is jeopardised. Together with the government aid programmes, this offers unprecedented opportunities for the water industry and related businesses for the year 2010 and beyond.”

UK among international exhibitor lineup

Two of Halma p.l.c.'s three water industry subsidiaries were among a number of UK exhibitors showcasing their technology at Aquatech.

Berson UV-techniek@s InLine 1000+ medium pressure UV systems, which have recently received USEPA validation for drinking water applications and NWRI validation for wastewater reuse, was on display together with UK-based Hanovia Limited, manufacturer of UV systems for industrial, leisure, marine and aquaculture applications; and Palintest Limited, who are world leaders in water and environmental analysis technology which has been developed for drinking water, waste water, swimming pool and soil testing applications.

Berson Hanovia showed its class-leading PMD200 medium pressure UV system, designed for a wide range of chemical-free water treatment applications, ranging from bromate-free disinfection of bottled water to the treatment of ultra-pure process waters for pharmaceutical and semiconductor manufacture. Palintest will be exhibiting a range of products, including the ChloroSense, a revolutionary portable device for instantly testing chlorine levels in water. New products will include the SA1100 Scanning Analyzer which tests for lead and other heavy metal contaminants in water.

The next Aquatech China will take place from June 2 up to and including June 4, 2010, in the Shanghai Exhibition Centre.
