The 2013 BlueTech Forum, a water industry conference focusing on innovative and disruptive water technologies, has announced the winners of its BlueTech Showcase.
In this year’s competition, Voltea received the BlueTruffle™ Award and Crystal IS won the Disrupt-o-Meter™ Award. These companies were part of the 4th Annual BlueTech® Forum Technology Showcase, which featured the innovative and disruptive technologies from 11 companies in three key water industry areas: Food and Beverage, Oil and Gas, and Smart Water. Delegates rated each company on the disruptive potential of its technology for the Disrupt-o-Meter™ Award and the strength of a company’s market strategy for the BlueTruffle™ Award. Runners-up in each category include MIOX for the BlueTruffle™ Award and INNOVEOX for the Disrupt-o-Meter™ Award.
BlueTruffle™ winner Voltea offers a capactive deionization technology (CapD-I) that remove ions from water using electricity at a lower economic and environmental cost than any other available technology. David Martin, CEO of Voltea, was delighted with the award claiming the BlueTech® Forum “was hugely beneficial to Voltea and winning the Blue Truffle™ Award against a tremendous field of presenters is a great honor.”
Disrupt-o-Meter™ Award winner Crystal IS offers a UV disinfection technology that is mercury-free, able to instantly reach 100% intensity after activation, and has a longer life than traditional UV lamps. Applications include monitoring, purification, and sterilization in the water, food, air and healthcare sectors.
Terri Jordan, SVP of Business Development at Crystal IS, said:
"We are thrilled to be recognized for this award. The breadth of solutions presented at the Forum to address the critical needs of the water industry were impressive, making this honor all the more meaningful. With such outstanding competition, this award is evidence of the market’s confidence in our technology and its future impact.”
Paul O’Callaghan, CEO of BlueTech® Research and Co-Chairman of the Forum, was particularly impressed with all of the companies at the 2013 BlueTech® Forum. Paul commented:
“The overall standard this year was extremely high. All of the companies in the BlueTech® Showcase were selected and assessed by the BlueTech® Research Team and BlueTech® Forum Advisory Board so, in essence, they were all on equal footing.”
The unique BlueTech Showcase platform highlights companies from around the world that are active in areas identified as hot-spots of innovation and provides them with the opportunity to present disruptive water technologies and business strategies.
