Next week work will begin on a £572,000 project to replace approximately 1,426m of water mains at Hipperholme, Halifax, to improve the resilience and reliability of the network in the area.

Scott Gammon, project manager, Yorkshire Water, said:

“This essential upgrade will provide a robust and reliable clean water network, reducing leakage and the likelihood of future bursts, minimising disruption for our customers in the area.”

Contract partners, Sapphire Utility Solutions, will start on site on Monday 8 September to renew the clean water network along the Halifax Road and Leeds Road. The planned works are scheduled to complete by Christmas 2025.

Yorkshire Water is also due to start work on a separate £819,000 project to replace approximately 2km of water mains at Woolley and Crigglestone, nr Wakefield, on Monday 8 September, to improve the resilience and reliability of the area’s network.

Almost 30km of pipework will be replaced at the Wakefield/Barnsley boundary area over the next two years.

Contract partners Galliford Try and McAndrew Utilities Ltd will start work on site on Monday 8 September - the project is expected to complete at the end of October.

The water company is aiming to renew over 1,000km of clean water mains across the Yorkshire region over the five year AMP8 investment programme as part of its £8.3 billion investment in infrastructure over the next five years.
