SES Water launches free virtual water efficiency checks for customers

SES Water has become the first UK water company to provide free virtual water efficiency home checks in partnership with Save Water Save Money - the largest global provider of water efficiency solutions.

The water company’s customers can now book a free online water efficiency consultation, giving them advice on water saving devices and identifying any leaks in their home, all without the expert technician having to enter the customer’s property.

During full lockdown SES Water was only carrying out emergency work in customers’ homes, in line with the Government’s advice.

With a stretching Per Capita Consumption (PCC) target to reduce the average amount of water used by each person in the Company’s supply area by 10 litres each day by 2025, the company said that water efficiency checks have never been more important.

Customers are automatically invited to book a session once they complete the Save Water Save Money’s ‘GetWaterFit’ calculator, hosted on SES Water’s website. Upon booking, the customer will choose a time to suit them and receive an invitation link to the 20-minute consultation using Zoom.

Dependent on what is identified during the consultation, the customer may be offered a follow-up appointment for a plumber to attend their property and fix any leaking appliances or install water saving devices, free of charge.

Across SES Water’s supply area each person uses around 150 litres a day which is higher than the UK average and the same as delivering 675 pints every day to each household.

In addition, about a third of all water lost through leaks escapes from customers’ pipework and this scheme has been introduced by SES Water to further help its customers save water and find and fix any leaks.

Alison Murphy, Water Strategy Manager at SES Water, said:

“We are pleased to be working with Save Water Save Money to provide this important new service for our customers. Virtual consultations provide a quick and convenient way to access our water efficiency advice from the comfort of your own home, while at the same time maintaining the safety and wellbeing of both staff and customers.”

SES Water supplies water to over 735,000 people in east Surrey, and parts of West Sussex, west Kent and south London with a supply area of 322 square miles (835 sq km) - from Morden and South Croydon in the north to Gatwick Airport in the south and from Cobham, Leatherhead and Dorking in the west to Edenbridge and Bough Beech in the east.

Groundwater supplies provide 85 per cent of the company’s water resources, with 15 per cent being extracted from one reservoir at Bough Beech near Edenbridge.
