Jonson Cox, Chair of the water industry regulator Ofwat has been awarded Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to the water industry in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.
Jonson Cox has served as Chair for Ofwat since November 2012. His appointment, which was renewed in 2015 and was set to end on 31 October 2020, was recently extended by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs to 30 October 2021.
Announcing the extension, Defra said that Jonson Cox was appointed "to resolve long-running issues between investors, companies and the regulator."
Other notable awards in the list include a Knighthood for Professor Duncan John Wingham, Professor of Climate Physics, University College London and Executive Chair, Natural Environment Research Council, for services to climate science.
Adrian Richard Gault Chief Economist, at the Committee on Climate Change between 209 and 2017, has been appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of his services to the environment and tackling climate change.
