Yorkshire Water to host supply chain event on £1.1bn AMP7 opportunities

Yorkshire Water is to host a supply change event to highlight opportunities within its Yorkshire Alliance from 2019 onwards at Shine in Leeds on Monday 19 March 2018 - the utility will have an anticipated spend in the Alliance for a maximum period 11 years from 2019 of circa £1.1 billion,

Yorkshire Water is looking for companies to work on a wide range of operational assets, including:

  • Reservoirs
  • Raw water inlets
  • Water treatment works
  • Wastewater treatment works
  • Outlets

The water company said that Yorkshire Alliance partners will need to demonstrate the highest standards of process safety required in a high hazard industry. Health and safety in operation must start in design, and Yorkshire Water intends to continue the momentum to ensure that safety and sustainability is embedded within every asset intervention.

Suppliers will need to work closely with Yorkshire Water’s in-house functions and other contract partners to address the level of change required to meet future needs. They will also need to have expert design and construction capability proven across a wide range of high performing infrastructure sector clients.

The procurement of the Yorkshire Alliance is now underway with a Notice published around 1 March 2018 – deadline for submissions of expression of interest is 2 April 2018.

Andy Clark, Head of Procurement & Contract Management at Yorkshire Water said:

“We have always sought to develop relationships with contractors and consultants that support delivery of benefits to customers, wider stakeholders and the environment. So, to address the diverse range of risks within the asset base we are looking to engage widely with a supply chain that is agile and able to respond to the level of change required to meet future needs.

“As well as being efficient, services must be resilient in the long term and provide multiple benefits to the customers and communities we serve. How we work with service partners is vital in delivering the services customers want, in the way that meets expectations at a price that customers believe is fair.”

Andy Clark added: “Innovation is a key driving force, allowing delivery of more while keeping costs down and helping meet the challenges of climate change, population growth and economic pressures. Future supply chain partners will also need to support the development and delivery of low carbon solutions and enhance Yorkshire Water’s use of standard products and solutions, off site construction and modular build.”
