South East Water: Defra grants conditional approval to transfer retail business to Invicta Water

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has granted South East Water conditional approval to transfer its non-household retail business to Invicta Water on 1 April 2018.

South East Water Choice, the retail arm of South East Water applied to Defra last October to exit the non-household retail market.

The acquiring licensee is sister company Invicta Water Ltd trading as Water Choice - the exit date requested is 1 April 2018.

Kent-based firm Invicta Water Ltd applied to Ofwat in October last year for a water supply licence and sewerage licence ahead of the business retail market in England opening for competition in April 2017.

Water Choice has been providing water and wastewater retail services since the market opened to business customers across England.

The water company wants to bring all its retail activities under one roof - from 1 April 2018 all water and sewerage retail business will be done by Water Choice. South East Water Choice currently supplies water to 55,000 business customers in Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire.
