Southern Water is to start work on a multi-million pound wastewater infrastructure project in Ashford.
The project includes building a new four kilometre sewer in south east Ashford which will secure wastewater services in Willesborough as well as supporting future developments in the Cheeseman’s Green and Waterbrook areas of Ashford, an important stage in the growth of the town. Work on the new pipeline is scheduled to start next week.
Southern Water’s Senior Project Engineer Gary Sayers, said:
“The improvement works we will be carrying out in Ashford are vital to allow for further development of the town".
The work is being undertaken by the 4D consortium - comprising United Utilities, Costain and MWH. The consortium is currently carrying out £700 million worth of environmental improvement and water quality schemes for Southern Water across Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight between 2005 and 2010 under AMP4.
