MITIE, the strategic outsourcing and asset management company, has secured a six-year contract to deliver an integrated facilities management contract for the largest water utility company in the UK - Thames Water Utilities Ltd (TWUL).
The estimated value of the contract for MITIE is over £100m, which will cover TWUL’s entire estate, totalling over 3800 buildings, including their head office and laboratory as well as operational buildings throughout the Thames region.
MITIE will have the responsibility for managing and delivering a variety of expertise and services, which will include a tailored asset management strategy, enabling TWUL to identify and target effective capital investment, reducing annual operational expenditure. This will be combined with a range of other services, driven through a dedicated CAFM/helpdesk system.
MITIE will work with TWUL over the coming months to implement the contract and further develop a total facilities management solution utilising MITIE’s internal supply chain, providing the benefits of an integrated service delivery team to the partnership.
Patrick Stirland, Managing Director for MITIE’s facilities management business commented: “We are excited about the prospect of working in partnership with Thames Water over the next six years to help the company achieve its strategic objectives.”
Mark Braithwaite, Chief Financial Officer for Thames Water, said: “It is a priority for us to deliver the best value for money for our customers by tightly managing our operating costs and maximising efficiency. Consolidating our facilities management needs under one supplier will enable us to drive down costs, delivering significant savings year-on-year which can be passed on to our customers. MITIE were selected after a comprehensive tender process and we look forward to working with them.”
