Anglian Water is launching its Big Conversation to hear customers’ views on key water issues to help shape its AMP7 business plan for the five years from 2020–2025 - a double-decker tour bus will visit more than 20 town centres and events throughout the East of England.
Starting in Lincolnshire, the eye-catching Anglian Water bus will be touring the region over the summer as part of the water company’s work to ensure its plans are supported by its customers prior to submission of the AMP7 plan to Ofwat.
The bus is fitted out with a water bar and four interactive discovery zones and is designed as an experience for customers to learn more about what the future might hold for the world of water. They will also help make the big decisions that will affect the company and the region for generations.
The Conversations are aimed at raising awareness about how Anglian Water treats and cleans water, protects the environment and plans to overcome the water challenges faced in the East of England such as climate change and drought.
The bus is just one of the ways the company is speaking to customers as part of its Big Conversation. A wide range of detailed customer research is underway as well as a series of planned events.
Anglian Water spokesperson Ciaran Nelson said:
“What our customers tell us will have an influence on our long term business plan. And the more people that take part, the surer we can be that our plan deals with the issues our customers care about.”
“We face a wide range of challenges, not just as a water company, but as a region. We are on the frontline in the fight against climate change, with some of the driest and lowest lying parts of the UK and our region is growing rapidly. Meanwhile the amount of water available remains the same and may even decline. These challenges are why it’s essential we speak to customers to get their opinions on our proposals to overcome these challenges and protect the environment and keep taps running for generations to come.”
“Only with customer feedback can we continue waging a war on leakage, going way further than any other water company. We’ll also be speaking to customers about how we keep bills as low as possible while still investing in the things that are most important to them, like spending more on new technologies and storing water to protect against future droughts.”
Within the business plan, Anglian Water will make its case for investing in reducing leakage and installing smart meters, as well as investing in pipes, pumps and treatment works, and outline its plans for protecting the environment.
In 2013 50,000 customers commented on Anglian's AMP6 2015-20 Business Plan. The water company is aiming to speak to even more people this time - company volunteers will be manning the bus for four weeks in June and July visiting towns and events.
